Respond make an effort to keep in touch with you, but also do not hassle, which is great. I know that they are at the end of the phone, should I need them and the few times I have spoken to them over the phone, they have been like friends to me… Super friendly and always so willing to help! I mainly communicate with them via e-mail with having a really busy life so this is also an option.

5. Be There For You

If you’re on holiday and urgently need supplies, Respond’s Global Assistance service is on hand, ready to help. This is fantastic as travelling with a stoma can feel overwhelming and daunting, especially if it’s new to you. The sooner you contact them, the sooner they can get your emergency supplies to you. Their “Travel Advice” section has lots of handy tips and advice and you can also download a travel certificate, free of charge, explaining your condition in several languages to show airport staff etc.

6. Keep In Touch

Respond’s staff are trained to give specialist advice that can be tailored to suit your lifestyle and will communicate with you at a frequency, time and method which best suits you.

How do you join Respond?

Joining Respond is thankfully super easy! I actually don’t know what I was expecting when I moved to Respond but it was quick and simple as they handle everything for you once they have obtained the necessary information from yourselves and other medical professionals such as your GP who authorises your prescriptions.

I was also apprehensive that I would need to contact my old supplier and have the conversation with them that I was moving, but Respond handled this for me so I didn’t have to, which was another worry off my mind!
